TODAY: Effective Communication in the Workplace

The IT Leadership Community is hosting an event next Tuesday, October 27, from 1:30pm – 3:00pm. Tiffany Lemons, Senior Organization Development Consultant for Indiana University Human Resources will lead this workshop on developing an understanding of key elements of effective communication including communicating with intention and effective listening.

Will You Help Us Help Students?

On Friday, November 6, we are hosting, Power Hour: Job Searching Best Practices. The goal of this virtual interactive event is to help students by tapping into YOUR knowledge regarding best practices for job searching. And, we need your help!

There are two ways you can help:


Share your experiences and advice through this survey. Advice and experiences will be included in the handout we are creating for attendees; and/or
Attend the event on November 6 and participate in breakout rooms with the students. You can choose to participate in the following topics:

Practice Your Interview Skills - You will ask students standard interview questions and provide feedback on their answers. We will provide you with suggested questions to ask, or you can ask your own.
Practice Your Networking Skills - You will network with students to help them hone those skills
Ask an IU Staff Anything - You will be available to answer job-search related questions students may have

Celebrating Halloween and Día de los Muertos Safely

Let’s be honest…coronavirus is spooky! With mask restrictions and gathering size limits still in place, Halloween and Día de los Muertos are going to look different this year. As many people begin to plan for fall and winter holiday celebrations, the CDC offers some considerations to help protect individuals and their families, friends, and communities from COVID-19.

Some fun, creative suggestions from the CDC:

Make your mask part of your costume
Handout individually bagged treats or candy
Prepare traditional family recipes and play music that your deceased loved ones enjoyed
